Lisbon has been one of my favorite cities since I visited for the first time three years ago. The city has seen a great deal of change over the last years, and a building boom has contributed to urban sprawl, as Portugal is receiving less funding from the European Union.Lisbon, Portugal

Take time to explore the Moorish São Jorge Castle, which looks like a fortress on the outside but is actually a delightful place of gardens, towers with scenic views, ponds with swans and peacocks, and other attractions within its walls.São Jorge Castle, Lisbon

A few things that you can’t miss are the Torre de Belém, the Museo Nacional dos Coches (you will be able to see coaches like the pumpkin one in Cinderella), Museo de Marinha (boats and naval exhibits), and the Museo de Arte Popular. You also you cant miss the Oceanarium, which is huge,  fascinating, and located in the new Oriente area.

For shopping I would recommend two malls: the Vasco da Gama which is just in front of the fair center and the Amoeiras which just in front some great hotels, like the Dom Pedro Palace Hotel, and the famous Av. Liberdade.Torre de Belém, Lisbon

Please don’t miss the seafood and the wine, and the tapas. They are all extraordinary! Try the local “Favaios”, a sweet wine from northern Portugal.

Let Lisbon conquer you!
